The teams met in London in the third round on January 10. Aston Villa won 2–1, but the focus quickly turned to the events after the final whistle.
A commotion broke out, and several players and officials from both teams were involved in a large brawl.
Now the English Football Association (FA) has taken action. Tottenham and Aston Villa have been fined 125,000 pounds each, the equivalent of just over 1.5 million kronor.
"The clubs failed to ensure that their players and/or officials refrained from behaving in an inappropriate or provocative manner after the final whistle," the association wrote in a statement.
