Lanez, who is serving a 10-year prison sentence for having shot rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020, was stabbed with a sharp object by a fellow inmate on Monday morning, reports entertainment site TMZ with reference to the prison authorities.

The authorities have not yet commented on how seriously injured Lanez is, but according to a post on the star's Instagram, he received 14 stabs – seven in the back, four in the chest, two in the back of the head, and one in the face.

Lanez's both lungs are said to have collapsed due to the violent attack and he temporarily had to lie in a heart-lung machine to get help with breathing, announces the star's team.

Lanez is now said to be able to breathe on his own and communicate with his surroundings, and his condition is not considered life-threatening.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is serving his sentence at a prison in Tehachapi, approximately 11 miles north of Los Angeles.
