Högberg, 31, has signed a three-year contract with the club.
"It feels absolutely fantastic to be back. Linköping is home to me, and I decided pretty quickly that I wanted to return to both the team and the city," he says on Linköping's website.
Marcus Högberg left Linköping for the New York Islanders organization in 2024. He had won the goaltender of the year award and been named the SHL's most valuable player.
During his two seasons with the Islanders, he played in a total of 16 NHL games.
It was Högberg's second stint in North America; he has also represented Ottawa.
