Tone Hansen named director of Moderna Museet

The new director was presented by Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (M) at a press conference.

Tone brings extensive experience in strategic work, as well as museum development and new perspectives on the role of museums in our time, says Liljestrand.

Hansen takes over from the current director Gitte Ørskou, who is leaving the position on August 31 after seven years in the position.

Since January 2026, Moderna Museet, Arkdes, and the Swedish Arts Council have been part of a single large authority under the name Moderna Museet.
