It was where their international careers began after Bo Widerberg's "Elvira Madigan" was shown in 1967 and Degermark, only 17 years old, won the prize for best female actress.

This year's festival will show the documentary film "In the Head of Bo", a film about Widerberg. In the film, both Berggren, 88, and Degermark, 76, are interviewed, and it was intended that both would attend the film's premiere on Wednesday evening.

But now Berggren's doctor has said no to his trip to Cannes, he is not allowed to fly for health reasons, and has been forced to cancel. Degermark will, however, come as planned.
