Tomasson Reflects on Sweden's Loss to Kosovo in World Cup Qualifiers

The national football team's national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson is self-critical after the 0–2 loss against Kosovo in the World Championship qualification. I have not been good enough, must be clearer, he says to SVT Sport.

Sweden started the World Championship qualifying game a couple of weeks ago by playing 2–2 away against Slovenia, followed by the low point against Kosovo, which then had place 95 on Fifa's ranking. Sweden was ranked in place 29, but has fallen down to 32.

We did not play like Sweden, did not follow our principles. We did not play like we had done during training, says Tomasson.

In connection with the shock loss, the national team was hit by a storm of criticism on social media. Some posts were so threateningly worded that the football association chose to report to the police.

Jon Dahl Tomasson says to SVT that due to the ongoing police investigation he cannot comment on the threats, or comment on whether they were directed specifically at him.

I always tell my wife and my children not to read comments, so I have not read comments, says Dahl Tomasson.

In October, the World Championship qualifying game continues with home matches against Switzerland and Kosovo.

Tomasson was appointed national team manager for Sweden's men's national team in February last year.
