Cruise returns as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, while Hathaway plays the owner and engineer of a racing team. Jonathan Levine directs, and Cruise produces alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.
The film takes place almost 40 years after Tony Scott's 1990 original, which also starred Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid and John C. Reilly.
The premiere of the new "Days of Thunder" is set for June 2, 2028.
