In the video, which is said to contain AI content, Tkachuk is seen speaking and appears to say:
“They booed our national anthem, so I needed to come here and teach those syrup-eating bastards a lesson.”
"That's not my voice, that's not what I said. I would never say that. I guess I don't like the video because that would never come out of my mouth and I never had that thought," Tkachuk told reporters after reuniting with his Canadian club team, Ottawa.
Tkachuk was part of the U.S. Olympic team that won gold after defeating Canada in the final. He attended the squad's visit to Donald Trump at the White House.
