World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, Spain, turned and won a five-set match against world No. 2 Jannik Sinner, Italy.

After 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, the 21-year-old Spaniard is set for his first French Open final.

Awaiting him is Alexander Zverev, who defeated a sick Casper Ruud, Norway, 3-1 in sets.

The 25-year-old Norwegian chased his third consecutive final in Paris, but was affected by stomach problems early in the match.

Zverev, the 2021 Olympic champion in Tokyo, won the match 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-2, and the German world No. 1 took his first Paris final after losing in the semifinals three years in a row – last year to Ruud.

In Friday's first semifinal between Alcaraz and Sinner, it was a nearly four-hour battle between the two young stars.

When 22-year-old Sinner, the new world No. 1 next week, took the lead with 2-1 in sets, it seemed like the Italian would take his second consecutive Grand Slam final after winning the Australian Open in February.

But then Alcaraz, the 2022 US Open winner and 2021 Wimbledon winner, rose up.

Both players suffered from cramps during the match. Sinner in his underarm and legs.

Carlos Alcaraz is thus the second-youngest Paris finalist of the 2000s. Countryman Rafael Nadal reached the final and won in 2005-2007 at the age of 19-21.
