Sjöberg was dominant in the bronze-medal match in the 68-kilogram class against Alina Sjevtjenko of Belarus; with Sweden leading 10–0, the match was over and Sjöberg secured her first senior-level championship medal.
Sjöberg reached the bronze medal match after losing in the quarterfinals to Nesrin Bas of Turkey, last year's U23 world champion. When Bas went all the way to the final, the Swede got another chance to make it to the bronze medal match.
This is Sweden's second bronze at the European Championships, as debutant Hugo Baff won one in the 77-kilogram class earlier this week.
On Friday, two more Swedes will compete for bronze: Evelina Hulthén (57 kilograms) and Johanna Lindborg (62 kilograms). Both lost their semifinals on Thursday.
