According to the German newspaper Bild, Timmy was pulled ashore on Saturday morning with a steel cable attached to a vehicle.
This is the second attempt to move the whale after the first rescue attempt was cancelled due to bad weather. The carcass will now be autopsied.
The dead humpback whale was discovered off the coast of Anholt in mid-May. Using a transmitter on the whale, authorities were able to determine it was the same whale that had previously stranded on a sandbank in northern Germany in March.
After a number of rescue attempts, the whales were moved from the Baltic Sea and released into the North Sea from a specially built barge in early May.
