Woods was arrested last week on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle overturned near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida.
Now the golf star says he will take a break from the public eye.
"This is necessary so that I can prioritize my well-being and work towards a lasting recovery," he writes in a post on X.
Woods has denied allegations that he was under the influence in connection with the accident. A breath test after the incident showed no alcohol, but Woods refused to submit to a urine test.
Recently, 50-year-old Woods made a comeback in the indoor league TGL after not competing for over a year.
