On Friday afternoon local time, Woods crashed his car into a vehicle on a two-lane road near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida. His Land Rover overturned on the driver's side, but the 50-year-old managed to crawl out of the passenger side unharmed, according to police.
A police spokesman confirmed that Woods, who was not injured in the accident, has been released on bail. In Florida, a person must be detained for at least eight hours before being released on bail.
The 15-time major winner, Woods, showed signs of impairment, but a breath test showed no evidence of alcohol. The golf star refused to submit to a urine test and was arrested.
Earlier this week, Woods made a comeback after not competing for over a year, in the indoor league TGL. Woods said at the time that he would not rule out playing in the year's first major tournament, the US Masters at Augusta National in Georgia, April 9-12.
Five years ago, Woods was involved in a car accident outside Los Angeles in which he seriously injured one of his legs.
