The organizers behind Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) say on social media on the night of Wednesday that they heard explosions on several of the boats at the same time as they saw several drones in the air. According to GSF, their communication channels and help messages are blocked.
"We are witnessing these psychological operations up close right now, but we will not let ourselves be intimidated", they write in a statement.
No one has been reported injured.
The convoy is currently located off the coast of Greece. According to GSF, the organization's intention with the trip is to "break the illegal siege" of the Gaza Strip by opening a humanitarian corridor by sea. In addition to Greta Thunberg, the Member of Parliament Lorena Delgado Varas, who recently left the Left Party, and the French-Palestinian EU parliamentarian Rima Hassan are also on the convoy.
Israel accuses the convoy of being linked to terrorism.
"This is not humanitarian. It is a jihad initiative that serves the agenda of the terrorist group (Hamas)", the Israeli Foreign Ministry had previously written in a post on X.
The accusations come after some of the representatives of GSF's steering group were seen in pictures together with representatives of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), all of which are classified as terrorist organizations by the US and EU.
Earlier in September, Global Sumud Flotilla stated that their ship was attacked for two nights in a row by what they suspect were drones.
