Three women injured in Paris knife attack, suspect arrested

Three women have been injured in a knife attack in Paris, two of them seriously. A suspected perpetrator was arrested shortly after the attack.

Three women - aged 19, 24 and 36 - were taken to hospital after the attack, with two of them reportedly suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One was stabbed in the back, another in the abdomen.

The perpetrator was reportedly armed with two knives when he carried out the attack, which took place near Place de Clichy at lunchtime on Monday.

The suspect made “incoherent statements,” Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said. In a video posted on social media, in which the man is being held, he says, “It was Allah who ordered me.”

A police officer who was off duty at the time was able to arrest the man quickly after the incident.

The suspect's identity is still unclear, as is the motive for the crime.
