Two UN peacekeepers are seriously injured, Unifil spokesperson Kandice Ardiel wrote in a post on X.

"Unifil reminds all actors of their obligations to ensure the safety of peacekeepers," she wrote.

This is the third time in a week that UN peacekeepers have been hit in connection with Israel's offensive against the Shiite militia Hezbollah in Lebanon. On Sunday, an Indonesian UN peacekeeper was killed and on Monday, two more were killed.

According to a statement from the Israeli military, analysis indicates it was a projectile from Hezbollah that hit the UN post.

In parallel, two people who had visited a mosque for Friday prayers were killed in an Israeli drone attack on the town of Sohmor, according to Lebanon's state news agency NNA. Eleven people were also injured.

Israel has reportedly destroyed two bridges in the area connecting Sohmor with Machghara. The bridges are identified as important for Hezbollah. Israel has also carried out new airstrikes against what it calls "terror infrastructure" in the capital Beirut during the day.

Over 1,360 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon since the beginning of March, according to the country's health authorities.
