The collision occurred after a previous accident on the same stretch of road when a passenger car crashed into the median barrier, resulting in debris on the roadway and limited traffic, according to police.
In the subsequent accident, which occurred just before 1 p.m. on Monday, one of the truck drivers was trapped. The man was taken by ambulance to the hospital for emergency surgery, according to regional authorities.
