Elmer Söderblom scored the first goal of the game with a wrist shot 11 minutes into the first period. Rickard Rakell ended that period by putting Pittsburgh up 4–1.
Rakell's second goal came 18 minutes into the second period, also on a wrist shot.
The Swede has extended his goal-scoring streak to five games, his longest since the 2017-18 season, when he first scored in six consecutive games and then five in a row. His point streak has now been extended to eight games, according to NHL.com.
Pittsburgh won 5–2 and are in second place in their division. The top three teams are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.
