In early January 2024, a man who had previously held a senior position in the criminal Foxtrot network in Sweden was shot dead in Baghdad.
Three Swedish citizens were arrested and later sentenced to death.
Sweden protested the death sentences, summoning Iraq's chargé d'affaires to the Foreign Ministry.
Now comes news that the sentences have been commuted.
"The three Swedish citizens who were previously sentenced to death in Iraq have had their sentences commuted to life imprisonment," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' press service writes to Hudiksvalls Tidning.
