The victim, a 20-year-old man, was shot multiple times in the street and later died in hospital. However, investigators believe the shooting was misdirected and that he was not the intended target.
"Our initial hypothesis is that the victim had no connections to criminal organisations or drug trafficking," a police statement read.
According to El País sources, the three arrested men have connections to the criminal milieu in Malmö.
