Three of the four persons suspected of animal cruelty and vandalism, after three reindeer were found with their throats cut off outside Umeå, are dropped from the investigation.

It has not been possible to prove their involvement, says prosecutor Anna Nilsson to SVT News Västerbotten.

The suspicions against the fourth person remain and the prosecutor hopes to be able to bring charges before the summer, reports SVT News.

It was in the beginning of February that three reindeer were found dead outside Umeå. According to the Swedish Veterinary Institute (SVA), they died from blunt force trauma and cutting injuries to the neck.

They were discovered the same week as one of the stages of the World Championship rally Rally Sweden was driven nearby.

The incident received widespread attention after a video was published on social media, which is said to show the reindeer being tortured and run over.
