The three people arrested under the National Security Act are men aged between 40 and 70, according to the Metropolitan Police, who say there is “no immediate or direct threat to the public”.
Following the arrest, British security minister Dan Jarvis said that Britain “will not sell out the country’s security for financial gain.”
Jarvis also announced that China had been informed, both through representatives in London and in Beijing.
One of the three people was arrested in London, while two were arrested at various locations in Wales.
