The three arrested are male high school students aged 18.
According to information provided to SVT, they are being investigated for gross unlawful coercion and gross sexual assault.
Prosecutor and preliminary investigation leader Lisa Dos Santos does not want to comment on the suspected crimes, but notes that they are serious.
"Intensive investigative work is now underway, including several interrogations," Dos Santos said in a press release.
Police began the operation at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Sigtuna School’s humanities program, which has both boarding students and students who do not live at the school.
The police operation lasted several hours before officers left the school at 8:30 p.m. There was no danger to the public. Police were tight-lipped about what had happened on Thursday evening.
The suspected crimes took place on Thursday night in one of the school’s dormitories, where boys aged 14 to 18 live, according to information provided to TV4 Nyheterna.
Guardians were informed by the school in an email shared with Expressen, among others.
"We would like to inform you that it has come to our attention that serious incidents have occurred at SSHL. The incident has been reported to the police, and officers were on site during the evening and began their investigation," the email read, according to the newspaper.
