At least three police officers were killed and two other people were injured when a car bomb exploded near a police station in the city of al-Mayadin, Syria, on Sunday, reports the state-run news agency Sana.
The explosion occurred at 7 pm local time.
Initial investigations and an inspection of the site show that the explosion was caused by a car bomb, which resulted in the death of three members of the general security force and a number of injuries, said Khalil Abdulmoneim al-Ayoub, mayor of al-Mayadin, to Sana.
