Three men have been arrested by Solna District Court suspected of war crimes in Syria. The men deny the crimes.
Now the investigation continues, and it's the usual thing we do in an investigation with evidence collection of various kinds. Interrogations, documents, analysis, and so on, says Ulrika Bentelius Egelrud, prosecutor, to TT.
It was on Thursday that the men were requested to be arrested on probable cause, the higher degree of suspicion. All are between 50-55 years old, of which two are from Western Sweden and one from the Stockholm area.
Two of the men are suspected of serious war crimes committed in Syria between July and September 2012. For the third man, the suspicions extend from July 2012 to September 2013.
All were arrested early on Wednesday morning and were detained later in the day.
The operation has taken place within the framework of a cooperation between Swedish and German prosecutors and police with the support of Europol and Eurojust.
