President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has visited Ukrainian forces defending the city of Pokrovsk, which is being subjected to a Russian offensive in eastern Ukraine. Fatalities are reported after attacks on Zaporizhzhia.

Pokrovsk is considered a crucial logistical hub for Ukrainian military in the defense of the eastern front in the full-scale Russian invasion war.

"I have received reports on the defense situation in Pokrovsk, on the situation on the ground and how the operations are proceeding", the president writes on social media and shows a film where he is seen at a military outpost.

On Saturday, information also came from Ukrainian authorities that three people have been killed and twelve injured in Russian drone attacks against the city of Zaporizhzhia.

"Residential buildings, cars, and social infrastructure buildings were set on fire", writes Governor Ivan Fedorov.

Ukraine's air defense reports that Russia has fired 179 drones during the latest wave of attacks on Saturday night. 100 have been shot down and 63 are "missing", according to the military.

The information comes at the same time as Ukrainian and Russian representatives are preparing to continue talks on a limited ceasefire in the Russian invasion war. The USA is expected to hold such negotiations with each country in Saudi Arabia within a few days.
