Three people have been lightly injured in connection with a large tree, a beech, falling in Berzelii Park at Nybroplan in central Stockholm.
The rescue service, police, and ambulance were alerted to the park, which was cordoned off.
The police will initiate an investigation into bodily harm through negligence with the City of Stockholm as the suspect.
There has been some kind of rot in the tree's root system that has caused it to fall or collapse. It's very difficult to detect during an inspection, says Martin Hubertson Merbom, acting department head for urban environment in the municipality, to TT.
What responsibility do you have in what has happened?
I cannot comment on that right now, we'll have to see what the investigation leads to, says Hubertson Merbom.
We will examine the other trees and ensure they are healthy and look good. Then we'll see if there are any routines at the traffic office that have failed.
