National team coach Tomas Axnér has selected three debutants for the women's handball European Championship qualifiers against Serbia in March.

Goalkeeper Stina Littorin (Önnered) and center backs Emma Olsson (Dortmund) and Stina Wiksfors (Sävehof) take their places in the squad, which has a total of eight new names compared to the team that only reached 15th place in the World Cup in December.

"We are aware that we need to make a generational change in certain positions and will have the opportunity to see many new players in the national team jersey during the two training camps in the spring," says Axnér in a press release.

Missing are, among others, Anna Lagerquist (injured during the World Cup), Linn Blohm (who injured her cruciate ligament in January) and Nina Koppang (who has taken a break for personal reasons).

Sweden will face Serbia in Kragujevac on March 4 and in Lund three days later. Both teams have started the European Championship qualifiers with two wins, against Ukraine and Lithuania.
