Three people have been killed in Israeli air attacks in southern and eastern Lebanon on Sunday, according to Lebanon's health department.

One of them was killed when a car was hit in the province of Tyre while a second attack in the eastern Baalbek region resulted in another death. Later in the day, another attack occurred, in which a Syrian citizen was killed and another Syrian was injured.

Israel's military states in a statement that one of the dead belonged to Hezbollah while another is said to have been an arms dealer and smuggler working for the Iran-backed Shia militia.

Despite Israel and Hezbollah agreeing to a ceasefire in November last year, Israel has continued to repeatedly bomb targets in Lebanon, mainly in the southern parts but also in the capital Beirut. Israel also has several outposts in southern Lebanon, in contravention of the agreement.

In recent weeks, the Israeli military has stepped up its attacks on Lebanese territory and in recent days has been responsible for several deadly attacks.

Last week, the UN's special rapporteur Morris Tidball-Binz told AFP that Israel's many raids on apparently civilian vehicles may constitute war crimes, although Israel claims they are targeted attacks on Hezbollah members.
