According to the newspaper, a police officer and a civilian are among the victims. Another police officer was reported to have been injured in the shooting.
Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada says she is following developments closely and writes on X:
"My deepest condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of the police officer who died in the line of duty in Côte-des-Neiges."
The motive behind the incident is still unclear.
