The accident occurred early Sunday evening. According to police, the passenger car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the truck. The truck driver escaped without physical injuries.
At noon on Monday, police announced that three people had died - a man, a woman and a child. A report of negligent driving and causing the death of another has been filed, but no one is currently suspected of any crime.
A preliminary investigation is now underway to try to determine the course of the accident.
Both the car and the truck have been seized and a technical examination will be carried out on both vehicles, says Tamara Fuentes.
There was a total shutdown on the E20 for several hours as a result of the accident, but around midnight the road was open again.
