The Three Crowns' national team captain presented his preliminary World Championship squad the same day the news from North America arrived.

Forward stars Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh, and Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado, have accepted to play in the World Championship with Canada.

Both were part of Canada's team that won the Four Nations in Montreal and Boston in February.

I think they mean a lot to Canada, they are two absolute top-class players, where the 87th (Crosby) brings its leadership. It's clear that it boosts their capacity significantly, says Hallam.

Sweden plays in the same group in Stockholm and concludes the group stage against the "Lönnlöven" on May 20.

Hallam says he is only positive about Canada's star reinforcements.

It's good, we want to play against the best, you want to compete and win against the best. It makes the whole tournament better, I think that we, regardless of what the other teams have, should be able to compete.

The Three Crowns have not won World Championship gold since 2018.
