The large audience in the newly renovated Avicii arena, or Globen as it is still often called in everyday language, was not treated to a goal fest when Tre Kronor took on Switzerland in the Beijer Hockey Games.
Instead, it was a tight story, where Sweden sat in the driver's seat for most of the match.
Filip Berglund opened the goal account on Saturday in the seventh minute, and then it would take a long time before the next goal.
Tre Kronor got the chance to extend to 2–0 in a long power play, after Jonas Taibel was given a match penalty. But the goal production failed to materialize, and at the end of the third period, Switzerland would instead make it 1–1 and take the match to overtime.
There, Switzerland was also the stronger team, and took home the win.
Sweden has thus suffered two losses so far in the Beijer Hockey Games, after starting with a 1–4 loss to the Czech Republic. Tre Kronor concludes the home tournament on Sunday against Finland, with face-off at 16.00.
