It was in August 2023 that the three politicians ended the ongoing care of three children under the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU). The decision followed an investigation by a consultant.

At the same time, two officials tasked with preparing the case are being charged with aiding and abetting gross misconduct.

"The children were reunited with their guardians after the municipal politicians' decision, despite suspicions that they had been mistreated by their parents. Both the Administrative Court and the Court of Appeal had reviewed the decision and found that there were still grounds for taking the children into care," prosecutor Sten Storgärds says in a press release.
