A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for attempting to blackmail a large number of people with threats of serious violence. The victims include artists, business leaders and influencers, according to Nacka District Court.

One of those affected was the artist Charlotte Perrelli, who told Expressen that it was an incredibly frightening and upsetting experience.

It was too damn bad, to be honest.

The man was charged with 19 counts of attempted aggravated blackmail, aggravated unlawful threats and assault in court proceedings. The plaintiffs, who have resided both in Sweden and abroad, have received repeated and serious threats, which have been reinforced by, among other things, images and films depicting aggravated violence.

"The perpetrator has, in the ways in which the threats were carried out, alluded to belonging to known criminal networks and access to the violent capital that this typically entails," said prosecutor Lars Lindman in a comment when the indictment was brought.

The man is sentenced to five years and ten months in prison by Nacka District Court.
