When the cardiologist's case was investigated, around 80 children were found to have been wrongly declared healthy. Now, the doctor's other patients – several thousand people – will also be checked, reports P4 Jönköping.

Checks are carried out in connection with regular follow-up visits, either at the current children's clinic at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping, or at other departments or hospitals.

It's natural that we're a little extra careful with all the children who have been treated by this previously employed doctor, says Simon Rundquist, head of operations at the children's clinic, to P4.

So far, no new serious deficiencies have been detected.

Previously, the medical records of nearly 500 children who were given a clean bill of health by the doctor have been reviewed. In 78 cases, a new examination was needed according to the investigation – of which six children were found to be in need of an operation.

The doctor now works within Region Skåne, but has been temporarily stopped from meeting patients.
