Parts of northern and central Sweden woke up to great devastation on Sunday and over 40,000 customers in the worst-affected areas were without power.
The electricity companies have been working to restore power, but on Monday evening around 11,500 households were still without power with Ellevio, Eon and Vattenfall.
The worst-affected area is Gävleborg County, with around 7,000 customers without power, followed by Västernorrland with around 2,000.
According to Ellevio, work is progressing slower than normal due to "extreme amounts" of fallen trees.
"There are so many trees that have fallen that it is impossible to get through with a saw. We need machines to clear the forest and then fitters who can repair the power lines," says Jesper Liveröd, press manager at Ellevio.
"Unfortunately, this is so extensive that there is a great risk that a lot of customers will still be without electricity beyond tomorrow."
Vattenfall and Eon also say Storm Johannes caused major damage to their electricity networks.
Thousands of trees fell during the storm. Three people are reported to have died.
