Almost 31,000 fishing boats - all in the area - with over 40,000 people on board have been called back to land while the typhoon Wutip continues to increase in strength.

Over 16,000 people have been evacuated from construction sites and low-lying areas that are easily flooded in the eastern province.

Wutip is expected to reach the coast on the western side of the island on Friday evening local time with wind speeds of up to 28 meters per second and heavy rain as a result.
