Winterberg is coming to the festival, which also showcases eight of the Danish director's films.

Mai Zetterling is also being highlighted in Gothenburg. The Swedish director was born 100 years ago and several of her films will be shown, including "The Girls" and "Amorosa".

It was previously known that the Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof will visit Gothenburg with his film "The Sacred Tree's Fruits", which takes place in the aftermath of Mahsa Amini's death in 2022, which sparked the popular protests in Iran.

The French actress Julie Delpy will also come to Gothenburg and receive the Honorary Dragon Award.

In the Nordic Competition section, among others, the Swedish director Magnus von Horn's film "The Girl with the Needle" can be found, which is Denmark's Oscars bid. Two other Swedish directors are competing – Fanny Ovesen with her feature film debut "Live a Little" and "Kevlar Soul" by Maria Eriksson-Hecht.

The Gothenburg Film Festival is being held this year between January 24 and February 2 and is the first under Pia Lundberg as the new artistic director.

Several internationally acclaimed films will have their Swedish premiere during the festival, including "A Complete Unknown" with Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and "Brutalist" with Adrien Brody, who recently won the award for best drama at the Golden Globe gala.

Norwegian drama set during the civil war in the Central African Republic.

"The Girl with the Needle" (Magnus von Horn).

Drama about an angel maker at a Danish abortion clinic after World War I.

"Ultras" (Ragnhild Ekner).

Swedish documentary about the global supporter culture.

"Alexandra – if we don't exist, we don't exist" (Olivia Kastebring).

Documentary about nightclub queen Alexandra Charles.

"The Sacred Tree's Fruits" (Mohammad Rasoulof).

Drama about a family torn apart when the protests begin in Iran in 2022.

"Wilmer X – When Time Stands Still" (Stefan Berg).

Documentary about the 40-year career of the Scanian rock band.

"A Complete Unknown" (James Mangold).

Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan at the beginning of his career.

"Brutalist" (Brady Corbet).

Adrien Brody as a Jewish star architect whose encounter with the US after the Holocaust becomes shattering.

"The Last Showgirl" (Gia Coppola).

Pamela Anderson plays an aging dancer who experiences the downside of the American dream.

"Queer" (Luca Guadagnino).

Daniel Craig is far from James Bond as a decadent and queer man in Mexico in the 1950s.
