"Shadow ticket" is the first novel Pynchon publishes since the 2013 "Bleeding edge". The book takes place during the depression of the 1930s, and follows private detective Hicks McTaggart, who is sent out on what appears to be a routine assignment – to track down the heir to a large cheese fortune. But before he knows it, he ends up in Hungary, where he soon finds himself dealing with both Nazis, Soviet and British spies as well as motorcycle gangs.

Thomas Pynchon's most famous work is the postmodern novel "Gravity's Rainbow" from 1973, for which he was awarded the prestigious National Book Award for fiction.

The publisher has not yet announced when the book will be released.
