The speculations about Thomas Müller's future have been going on for a while, and it has previously been reported that the club does not want to extend the club icon's contract, which expires this summer.
Something he himself confirms in his farewell letter on Instagram.
"The club has deliberately chosen not to negotiate a new contract with me for next season. Although it does not match my personal wishes, it is important that the club follows its feeling. I respect that decision", he writes.
Müller has gone through the age groups in the club and played there throughout his entire senior career. Thus, he is seen as one of Bayern Munich's greatest.
Together with Bayern, he has won numerous titles, both domestically and internationally. It has resulted in twelve league titles, six cup wins, and two Champions League trophies in his total of 743 matches with the club.
"I feel an enormous appreciation for all those involved during my long time in Bayern, and great joy over having got to play 25 intense years for my heart club. All the fantastic memories will forever bind me to FC Bayern – and to you", Müller writes and continues:
"Thanks for everything that has been – and for everything that is to come".
Where Thomas Müller will continue his career is not yet officially known.
