Thobias Montler's championship ended immediately. In his third jump, he cleared 7.90 and finished twelfth, the last qualifying place.
But then Czech Petr Meindlschmid jumped a centimetre further, and Montler had to book the trip home instead.
It's a big disappointment. I'm really just going to sort it out. It's too bad. I can't get the first jump right at all, but I have to sort it out in the second and third jumps. Now I just have to forget about this and book the tickets home as soon as possible, Montler said on SVT.
The 30-year-old has every reason to miss home. He could become a father any day now.
"Right now it's tough, but in a few days it will feel better. Now I'm looking towards next season. I just want to go home," says Montler.
The other long jumper, Niklas Wall, did not fare any better either. He was also eliminated.
"I'm very disappointed. It felt a lot better than it looked," says Wall.
