The announcement comes after several days of intense debate in France after accusations against Orélien and his novel "C'était ça ou mourir" spread from social media to the country's cultural pages.
Since Orélien was suspected of using AI, allegations of plagiarism have also emerged regarding previous texts written by the Canadian, prompting the jury for the Goncourt Prize, France's top literary award, to make the decision.
Orélien told AFP on Thursday that he intends to speak out only when "everything has calmed down."
"Right now, people seem to not only want to attack me but above all silence me," he continued.
