Ann Jäderlund was born in Stockholm in 1955. She has published several poetry collections since her debut with "Vimpelstaden" in 1985. She has also published two children's books, written plays and translated several foreign poets into Swedish, including Emily Dickinson.
The Tranströmer Prize was established by the City of Västerås in 1997 to honor the poet Tomas Tranströmer, who lived in Västerås from 1965 to 2000. The prize is awarded every two years and the prize money is 200,000 SEK.
