For-profit schools should not be allowed to transfer school funds - and if they do, they should be required to repay the funds. The Social Democrats want to see this if they win the election, as a first step to stopping profits in schools.

In the long term, the party wants to completely ban profits in independent schools, group leader Lena Hallengren points out at a press conference.

"The school needs to get back on track," she says.

As a first step, the party wants to introduce a ban on value transfers, so that a school would not be allowed to transfer, for example, school funds to another school or business within the same group.

The party also wants to introduce requirements for separate reporting by school unit and requirements in the Education Act that a principal must be a legal entity and that each principal may only be responsible for one school.
