They add that any progress in the peace talks will depend on Russia.
“Both sides agree that real progress toward an agreement depends on Russia’s willingness to demonstrate a serious commitment to long-term peace, including steps to reduce tensions and end the killing,” writes US envoy Steve Witkoff on X.
On Tuesday, Witkoff, among others, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin for talks about a possible peace settlement. The meeting in Russia has been followed in recent days by talks in Florida between representatives of the US and Ukrainian governments.
