Talks were also held on Friday – but details about what was discussed are still few and both the US and Ukraine state that any progress in the peace negotiations will depend on Russia.
“Both sides agree that real progress toward an agreement depends on Russia’s willingness to demonstrate a serious commitment to long-term peace, including steps to reduce tensions and stop the killing,” US envoy Steve Witkoff wrote on X after Friday’s negotiations.
According to Witkoff, the meeting was the sixth that he and Kushner had with the Ukrainian delegation in the past two weeks.
The talks in Florida follow Witkoff and Jared Kushner meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on Tuesday for talks about a possible peace settlement.
