He took a break from NHL hockey for almost two years. Now Oliver Kylington is back on the ice – and chooses to talk about the break. I have been through things no child should have to experience, says Djurgården's defenseman to Expressen.

Oliver Kylington took a break from the sport in May 2022. He later said it was due to mental health issues, caused by family problems. He described the situation to the newspaper as a “pot of boiling water.”

At first it ended up at four or five in heat. Then it became nine and full power. Then it exploded.

Considering that it was a close person in my family who was involved in much of what I was having trouble with, and who made me feel bad, it was evident in all my relationships in my family life.

Kylington broke up with one of his parents and still has no contact.

It's okay if we have a relationship with each other in the future, but today we don't and I've accepted that.

The 28-year-old does not want to tell exactly what happened.

In the NHL, Kylington played for Calgary, Colorado and Anaheim. This season he is back home in Stockholm and plays for the SHL team Djurgården.
