"This is the biggest theft ever, as far as we know," says a representative of wine producer Marchesi Antinori.
The stolen goods consisted of three of the company's red wines: Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso. According to AFP, the wines cost between 1,300 kronor (about $120) and 3,300 kronor (about $315) per bottle, sometimes more, depending on the vintage.
The theft took place over the weekend in a warehouse where the bottles were awaiting export, but was only discovered on Monday.
It is the second major wine theft in Italy in recent times. Last month, 3,000 bottles of Barolo were stolen from a wine producer in Piedmont; they were also valued at millions.
