The twists and turns surrounding Fredriksdalsteatern in Helsingborg have been many since Eva Rydberg was forced to leave and then started anew on a new venture at Sundspärlan in the same city.
The competition became too tough for Anagram Live, which took over after Rydberg at the venerable outdoor theater – after just one summer, they withdrew from the contract with the municipality last autumn.
When the production company Dröse & Norberg rents the stage at Fredriksdal in the summer of 2025, it's not with a farce in the footsteps of Nils Poppe and Eva Rydberg, but with the family musical "Aladdin – the musical".
It's incredibly exciting and also a bit overwhelming, says producer Anna Norberg to TT.
She emphasizes that they're not out to compete with Eva Rydberg.
We're not doing a farce, but a musical. It's something entirely different.
Dröse & Norberg have been working with family musicals for several decades, and in 2017, they premiered "The Adventure Aladdin" with, among others, Charlie Grönvall and Renaida Braun in leading roles.
So far, it's not clear who will play the roles in "Aladdin – the musical", which premieres at Fredriksdalsteatern on July 18.
Helsingborg's Deputy Director of Communications and Business Development Helena Wennerström comments on the decision in a press release.
"This summer, we have a unique situation where the stage can be rented out while waiting for the upcoming tender, and it's especially pleasing that Dröse & Norberg are taking the opportunity to use the stage next summer", she says.
