The pressure to see Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal in Shakespeare's play "Othello" at Barrymore Theatre on Broadway is so high that the best tickets are now being sold for 9,300 kronor, writes The New York Times. The average price is around 3,400 kronor, and the production has not even been reviewed yet.
Last week, tickets were sold for 28 million kronor, which is a new Broadway record for sales during a week for a non-musical.
The lead role is played by Denzel Washington, who, according to the Times, is "extremely popular" with the Broadway audience. "Othello" will be his sixth leading role on Broadway, where he is currently part of a small group of actors whose performances sell well.
